I think what is interesting about Jack's reaction to Renee is that, as Rachel points out above, she breaks all the rules when it comes to how to handle Jack and yet instead of getting mad, Jack actually seems to want her approval. There's something tentative about the way he leans on her, because it's not like the way he leans on Chloe or Tony. It's like he wants to believe but he still feels the need to check that she's still there with him.

But seriously, I've been in that situation that Larry's been in, and it hurts like hell to feel like you've invested so much in a relationship, and you've been blindsided not only by how little you knew them, but how much you overestimated the trust they had in you. Larry doesn't know what Renee's gone through, but in many ways, he is the same type that becomes undone when he loses one of the constants that anchors his belief.
