Perhaps the Finale will go the Battlestar Galactica route: That series was relentlessly grim, so I watched the finale assumeing that everyone was going to die. The writers knew we excepted that, so they surprised us with a reasonably positive ending.

Maybe that’s what the 24 folk will do? Or not?
