i actually thought the opening ceremonies were pretty cool. absurdist and avant-guarde, yes, but still cool. but maybe that's just because it was in italian?
my fave was the guy reciting the passage from dante's inferno; was very proud that i 1) actually understood it despite the text being in old tuscan, and 2) i recognized the speech. yes, i am a nerd.
