Yeah nothing is slow on this show. Ever. Part of why I spend half my life now dying over it. Meh.
I do give you that Jack is super hard to read at this point, although I'm totally with you on the Renee/Larry thing. I think last night made the Renee half of my ship crystal clear. Canon now;) But Jack? He's tougher. The shippy side of me wants to believe that he's in full-out denial mode, and that one of the reasons that he has so much trouble engaging with Renee right now (when he's not being Tactical!Jack) is that she does get to him and he knows he can't afford to go there right now. I don't even mean in the romance sense. Just letting out the feelings that he obviously has on the subject of, well, at this point, his own imminent death.
Still, Shipper Goggles or not, he treats her differently than he does other people. Nobody else makes him shifty like that. Half the time he's avoiding eye contact with her. What it's about, I'm not sure.
