It has been a long time since I have really had an ad affect me the way this one did, and I think it's because it's the first time I've really seen recognition of Filipino Americans as part of America in a global scale in such a simple, ordinary way.

That people are having super atomic meltdowns at OH NOEZ AN AMERICAN SONG IS NOT SUNG IN ENGLISH tells you how much we still have to go to be seen as part of the country (which a) Keres is more native to America than English, dumbasses and b) this isn't our national anthem, assholes).

But this gives me hope. One thing I love about all the girls chosen is that they’re all second generation kids. Meaning they’re families migrated from their home country and the kids being born in America, making the whole concept much more relatable. Hearing all these little girls speaking about hope and belonging is just EVERYTHING.

Also, way to represent an interracial couple and a gay couple too. Yay for intersectionality.
