Okay so this is mostly directed to the MADeIra girls who did theater in high school, but OMG you guys. Remember when we'd do Rain in the choir room right before a performance to get centered and focused and stuff? This Slovenian choir basically did the same thing, before launching into an acapella version of Toto's Africa: their version of Rain is AWESOME.
I miss technical theater in Madeira. I miss building sets, goofing off late at night and on weekends, pizza with the slight hint of sawdust, paint fights, wrenches named George, glow tape, platforms held together with gaffe tape and C-clamps because we ran out of screws, walking in the catwalks, dangling precariously on the cherry picker, watching the sunset over the Potomac from Chapel, and Brown Paper Bag Day. I don't miss high school all that much, but I do miss Madeira theater a LOT.
In other news, anyone else kinda annoyed at LJ for changing the blue bar? It took me way too long to figure out that to get to my friends page I click on the Friends tab. I liked the drop down menus better.
Also, I should mention that I'm currently in Hong Kong en route to Vietnam. After rolling in last night around 1:30am and falling asleep around 3am-ish, I got woken up at 8am by Enzo asking if we could watch High School Musical together. He's back in that phase again. (At least he's no longer refusing to respond to anyone who doesn't call him Troy Bolton at school). Anyway, he's turning 4 on the 31st, and he keeps asking for a HSM cake. Maycee's asking if I can photoshop his head onto Troy Bolton's body, so I guess that'll be part of my gift for him. LOL. Oh the things I do for family.
On the subject of little kids, they are making a Ramona movie that I truly hope they don't screw up because I loved those books as a kid. On the plus side, the trailer looks pretty good and the adult cast seems pretty strong (SANDRA OH!). On the other hand, trailers lie. And I don't hate Selena Gomez; in fact I think that she's probably one of the stronger Disney actor working right now, but I'm not sure if I see her as Beezus. Also, the newcomer playing Ramona has some pretty big shoes to fill since Sarah Polley's Ramona is near and dear to my heart. I'm probably gonna bring Jaz to see this either way though. I just hope that this particular Walden Media adaptation is more in the vein of Bridge to Terebithia than The Seeker (UGH). It could go either way, really.
And to end this trip down memory lane, here's your Random clip of Awesomeness for the Day:
