People may or may not have already seen this, but I get a kick out of fanmade trailers (like that Thundercats one I posted about in December), so in case you haven't seen it, the Green Lantern starring Captain Tightpants Nathan Fillion:

In related Whedon news, they're making a Buffy movie. Just not with SMG. Or the original cast. Or Joss Whedon. Apparently they want to make it all dark and edgy? Say it with me, kids: EPIC.FAIL.

On the bright side, it's summer so that means So You Think You Can Dance is back, and I get to see the wonderfully bright and awesome Cat Deeley on my screen as well as awesome dancers. Should be fun. :)

ETA- Hey you know what would have been a better idea if they wanted to revamp Buffy and make it darker? Do a Fray movie. Same Slayer powers, waaaay different angst. And they'd have lots of fun with the CGI with Gunther and Urkonn.

Dollhouse disappointed to no end. Maybe that's my Joss Whedon is out of Buffy?

That GL trailer does not look promising, even if Captain Tightpants can do no wrong. I’m still nursing my dejection at what they did to the Silver Surfer. They had an angst- filled naked guy on a space-worthy surfboard. How could they possibly screw that up?

Dollhouse was something new. I get where he was trying to go with it, but Joss' strength is in the way his dialogue snaps and manages to balance drama with comedy. Not much comedy in Dollhouse, because the entire concept is creepy. It makes you uncomfortable, and I suppose that's the point he's trying to make, but that doesn't mean I really feel like watching it all the time.

Still, given that he came up with the idea in the original Kristy Swanson movie (but got derailed because of the director) and the fact that he was able to go back and make it work as a TV show- to cut him out completely and not even consult him is dumb. Remakes that work happen because you respect the original. Star Trek worked because Orci and Kurtzman were BIG Trek fans and without Nimoy, it wouldn't have worked. Batman Begins and Dark Knight went back to the original Year One and Killing Joke comics and tried to capture that spirit.

Also, in both those cases, it had been YEARS between original and remake so fans had enough distance to warrant a revamp. Buffy only went off air in 2003, and the actual Buffy-verse didn't stop until 2004 with the cancellation of Angel. On top of that S8 has continued on in comic form and has stayed pretty popular. So is a revamp really necessary?

Also, you get that that trailer isn't real, right? It's totally cribbed off Firefly, Matrix, Fantastic Four, and Star Trek, with some Castle and Captain Hammer tossed in there.

Er. I'm a little slow. It's a good fake trailer.

Did you get that trailer from Topless Robot? That's a great site.

This is a Terminator Fan Vid That's better than the movie.

My site of choice is actually Trailer Mash (http://www.thetrailermash.com/), if only because it has my favorite movie mashup of all time, Ten Things I Hate About Commandments:

Although Goonies of the Caribbean (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJSp2jNI7Co) comes in a very close second.

Just what I need. Another way to waste time. The Logan's Run Mashup looks promising. Must watch now.

ETA: "Embedding Disabled???" Fine. Be that way.
