Oh Leverage. Only you could make gifting a fugitive bag into the cutest expression of affection ever.
Things I loved:
1. The team's overall hatred of Sterling. Hardison paying the bartender so he and Parker can continue watching Eliot beat up Sterling was AWESOME. I loved the constant jibes ("Do not mention the old offices.") And Parker's reaction to Hardison squleching Sterling's comm to get him to shut up was adorable. Which just makes turning their work into his victory all the more hilarious. Sterling never loses. Even Tara got in on the hating.
2. Conversely, the team's affection for Maggie *despite* her honesty. Parker made Maggie a fugitive bag, guys. She really does care about Maggie's welfare. Also, I just realized watching this episode that I'm totally shipping Maggie and Nate. Hard. Her face when she assumed he was dating Sophie kinda killed me because, dude. She just wants Nate to be happy, and Nate, well, he never got over her. He still calls her his wife.
I also loved seeing them interact so much. It was great in the David Jobs and it was great here. ("Quick little hint for your next marriage? That excuse doesn't fly with any woman on earth." "Are you acutally having this argument NOW?" "He/She started it.") The history, the banter and just everything about them makes me wish that we had seen a little of them in their Nick and Nora days at IYS. Plus the kiss. HOMG the kiss. I mean, despite Parker's little "Excuse me. I just have to grab that bomb" interrupting it and the awkwardness that followed it. And that ending. MAN. Maggie is the only person who can call him out on his shit without it feeling preachy. Oh Nate, how did you ever lose this woman? She's amazing.
3. I really enjoyed seeing the Eliot stepping up to the plate. If Sophie and Nate are the parents of this dysfunctional family, Hardison and Parker are like the kids and Eliot is the grumpy uncle. This was totally his op, and I loved it. Retrieval specialist indeed.
4. I was irrationally pleased to see Matt Keeslar, the Middleman, in this episode. The only thing they could have done to make this episode better is for someone to remark that the villain's plot was sheer elegance in its simplicity.
5. Tara's getting better. Definitely less Mary-Sue-ish. She did well using Eliot's mad dog stare, and she gets her licks in with Nate, talking about how Alexander's younger than him. If she continues to be written this way, I'll accept her more. I still miss Sophie like whoa. I wonder how she reacted when they told her it was Maggie they were saving.
Maree, Gabe, you totally have to see this if you haven't already.
