Thoughts on 3x09- Chuck vs the Beard:
1. MORGAN KNOWS. THIS IS GOING TO BE EPIC. I'm so so happy that Morgan knows. Chuck's been needing a best friend, and I'm really glad that he has this now since he can't talk to Sarah (or Casey, because *snerk* it's Casey). Also, let's talk about the fact that Morgan a) didn't freakout when he found out about the tunnel, b) he actually followed the Ring agents without a gun and training, c) went *back* to mount a plan to stop the Ring agents, and d) immediately told Chuck. Sarah was right; the boy may be foolish, but he is brave and he is loyal. I'm strangely proud of the dork. If you had said early in S1 that Morgan would be one of my favorite characters, I would have laughed, but "before they came and long after they leave, Morgan will still be there." And I wouldn't have it any other way. (Also, nice call backs to the Duck Hunt and the Subway sandwiches.)
2. I also liked that Sarah was the one who vouched for Morgan and was able to convince the others enough that Casey didn't object (at least not out loud) and Shaw caved. Sarah's seen the most of Morgan, and by vouching for him, she's validating everything that we've seen of Morgan in relation to him keeping Chuck on the right path. Also, a tiny part of me thinks that she said something because she knows how much Chuck needs him, in more ways than just as a confidante. By bringing in Morgan, she knows that she's added another voice to keep Chuck from losing too much of himself and becoming Charles Carmichael. Since Chuck can't talk to her any more and she can't keep him grounded and Chuck-like, Morgan can now fill that role, and that's helpful to her cause. It's very nicely played by Sarah if you think about it.
3. Viva Buy Moria. The Nerf guns, the stack of cheeseballs, and the WWII pose with the Buy Moria flag, not to mention the return of Jeffster and Jeff's chloroform, were all used to perfection. The funny part is that this band of complete and utter losers is exactly that, but they are our losers, and you kinda have to revel in their insanity, and the Ring agents' WTF faces as they heard them revolting. I was already enjoying their hilarious refusal to give up their jobs, but when Casey joined in with that line about hippie liberal fascists, I just about died. Definitely the line of the show, but since it's coming from Casey, that's not entirely a surprise, now is it?
4. Shaw continues to be shady. He seemed really eager to blow up Chuck. Also, what's this about "they didn't get any information out" when we already know the Ring agents uploaded the information to their headquarters? Shaw would have noticed the transmissions if he checked it. No way they upload it without also revealing the location of Castle. So what's the deal? Is Shaw really that dumb? Or is he a turn coat? Perhaps he started out as a Ring agent and fell in love with the original CIA mole, and now he's starting to have second doubts. Either way, I don't really trust the guy right now. It may also be because the double meanings the writers like to tie in with the episode titles make me feel like Shaw is the beard we're talking about. For what, though....hmmm.
5. I also waffle about his relationship with Sarah. On one hand, I'd hate for her to be burned again, particularly after Bryce's death and Chuck's rejection. This show is so mean to Sarah, in that regard, especially when you consider she's basically been celibate for 3 years, unlike the rest of them. That said, I kinda really want Shaw to turn out to be a baddie in some way because it makes the most sense to fill the plot holes. If not a straight out turn coat, it'd be nice to see some calculation on his point to justify Routh's chemistry-free acting opposite Yvonne. They weren't all that coupley this episode, which was kinda strange when you compare Chuck and Hannah. Something is just not right with their relationship. (Oooh, what if he's a Manchurian Candidate-esque sleeper spy who's spying without realizing it?)
6. As mentioned above, Casey continues to be the best part about this show. So how about that ending, huh? I refuse to buy that Casey is a turncoat, so I suspect some of this might be Casey helping out someone who's tied to the Ring, since he's already had two friends/mentors turn out to be bad guys. Judging from a tiny flash in the previews, it looks like we're about to find out about that Honduras reference from last week. I am super excited to see Chuck and Sarah go to the line for him, though. It's about time Sugar Bear got some love and appreciation from those two. (Also, Shaw is suspiciously absent in Beckman's request...Interesting.)
All in all, well done, Zachary Levi on your directing debut. What an episode for them to give him as his first time. That's trust, man. This was totally a game-changer ep.

You're welcome for the vid though. My friend Katie linked me up to it and I had to share because it is indeed fantastically funny. Favorite part is : "LEEEEEEEEAD ACTRESS' NAAAAAAAAAAAAME!" Hehehe.

My favorite part of the vid is the end: "Laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh. It's not gonna be entirely a dramatic film. 'Cause we laughed there." OH MAN.

I actually want to know who made it and for reason (if not just for the LULZ). It's really well done.
