Before I launch into 24 talk- MAD girls, Ms Bush is retiring. If you want to give her messages, email the alumni people as they are compiling comments and whatnot to give her. She's awesome and totally deserves it, so even though the radio silence between me and MAD goes on from here to eternity on a normal basis, I still emailed some stuff in.

I'm like thisclose to going into Internet lockdown because I don't want to get spoiled for 24's finale on Monday. It's like they're everywhere since the S7 Finale and DVD party. (Which you should all check out the pictures of because they're so VERY cute). But seriously. Spoilers!Everywhere! And it's taking all my willpower not to click on people's LJs and links. Must.be.strong.
Of course that won't stop me from entertaining speculations about how it's all gonna end, especially with Tony. My list of possible reasons for Tony's perceived conversion to the dark side is still on the post-it on my desk, because as I mentioned in the previous post, we've heard from his own mouth a lot of reasons for his action:
1. Mercenary reasons: "Money's the only reason I have for doing anything any more."
Likelihood: Unlikely, although he looked really comfortable with those diamonds in 7x06.
2. Warped Patriotism ala Hodges: "The government killed Michelle... Charles Logan is a product of his environment."
Likelihood: Possible. I could see the Cabal playing on his anger and patriotism. It would still be somewhat in line with the Tony we knew to want to fix the kind of government that questions patriots like Jack who gave up everything for their country and sticks Tony in prison for trying to save his wife but virtually letting Logan off the hook for betraying the entire system.
3. Exposing the Cabal: "Don't break your own rules, Jack! You may save one man, but think about the thousands who could die in a biological attack!"
Likelihood: Highly improbable but this is also 24 so maaaaaaybe. The optimist in me wants to believe this, which might explain why he's been so quiet about it (assuming he knows Cara is listening). And given the entire Mexico thing in S3 and the aftermath of S5, it's not against type for him to work from within to expose the Evil Skype Session of Doom at all costs. This is, after all, the very reason why we accepted him back this season in the first place. However, the realist in me thinks that it's probably more likely to be...
4. Revenge: "The rules had changed. That there was no thing such as honor left. That we would have to take care of each other. Like brothers."
Likelihood: Most likely. Tony is first and foremost a character driven by his emotions. He's got a history of spiraling without a touchstone (hello S4) and I could easily see him being brainwashed by Emerson. He was too genuine in his sadness over killing him and I really do think that Emerson got to him, especially if he played on Tony's anger over Michelle's death which I've supplemented with Rachel's theory about Michelle being pregnant as part of my fanon.
Also, from a storytelling POV, it would continue the show's grand tradition of Jack and Tony always taking different paths. Jack chooses David Palmer over his family. Tony chooses Michelle (who actually was awesome enough to escape on her own) over capturing Saunders. Jack is more likely to sign up for a suicide mission, consumed with guilt and blaming himself unreasonably or not for Teri and Audrey (hi S6 and 7x13). Tony is much more likely to go for revenge, since unlike Jack, Tony holds no personal culpability for losing Michelle so his reaction would be to push the blame outward, versus Jack would probably turn inward.
So I could definitely see them going this route, especially since it's in keeping with the big themes of the season. If this season is all about The Story of the Life and Redemption of Jack Bauer, what with Renee being the Ghost of Christmas Past, then Tony is still the Ghost of Christmas Future, just more much bleak than we originally thought.
Of course I could be wrong. Again, this is 24 so it could be a totally different reason completely. I just hope they give us something that makes somewhat sense to account for Tony's actions. That's all I really want. I'm less worried about the Jack health thing because we know he's signed on for S8, so my main thing is just that Scooby Doo moment of explaining why.
Although Jack better not be kidnapped or some shit like that. None of this S5 crap. This season has been painful enough for Jack, which is ironic, since we all were talking earlier this season about how it was like his best day ever. I don't even care if Jack's health isn't 100%, I just want him safe at like West Arlington or somethingso Kim and Renee can angst together over waiting for him to recover. (Shoot, Shana, I'm turning into a full fledged shipper now.)
And actually, I would LOVE it if Kim actually got herself out of trouble and maybe even worked with Renee to get Jack back, since Mary Page Keller and Hey It's That Guy are the most direct leads to Cara, Tony and the Evil Skype Session of Doom. That would be kind of awesome. The women this year are totally kicking butt on 24, so that would be in keeping with THAT theme too.

I want him safe too!
I think you're right that it's gonna be revenge. It fits. And it's so "ghost of christmas future". I totally imagine Kim as Scrooge's newphew here and she's all "Have some stem cells!" and he's all BAH HUMBUG! And then he wakes up and is all "did I miss it? is she still here?"
God bless us all, every one.

If Kim is Scrooge's nephew, then does that make Chloe Tiny Tim? Cuz, heheh, won't lie. That would be hilarious. Someone needs to fic this and quick.

Me? I'm thinking Mason, Chapelle, and Larry. What do you think?
And DUDE. That means I *have* to buy the final season's DVD no matter how good or bad that season is. Le sigh.
From:
no subject
Or maybe someone like Mason is Marley and can be all "no listen to the ghosts, Jack."
Teri has to be ghost of Past. Chappelle or Larry as ghost of Present...future is nina.
From:
no subject
Mason works though, I say we go with him. Instead of chains, he can be all blown up in a tattered suit. And I change my vote to Palmer as Christmas Present, because Chapelle would be too much angst for Jack and he didn't know Larry well enough.
So:
Bob Marley- George Mason
Ghost of CTU Past- Teri
Past!Jack - Renee
Ghost of CTU Present- Palmer?
Present!Jack: Jack
Scrooge's Nephew- Kim
Bob Cratchit- Chloe
Cratchit wife- Morris (heehee)
Tiny Tim- Prescott
Ghost of CTU Future- Nina
Future!Jack- Tony
Now fic it as part of Jack's hallucinations. Aaaaand GO!
From:
no subject
Ooooo Palmer! So Ghost of Present. So like he'd see Renee as him in the past? Or just the idea?
OMG. Morris as Mrs. Cratchit *giggles*. He's so annoyed he has to wear a dress.
God bless us all, every one!
From:

And then Palmer could point out how stupid Jack was being about Kim and how much Chloe puts herself on the line for him- so that he can get it through his head that he's worthy of being saved so can he please stop it with the altrusistic suicidal tendencies?
And then Nina can point out how Tony's just another line of people he loved who have gone bad, since Tony was his family, perhaps more so than Graeme. Ooh and then you could have Nina show the rows of Bauers who have gone bad and add Tony to the list....
And then have him wake up?
Haha, I dunno. You realize we're insane right? For even putting this much thought into it.
From:
no subject
Because I can totally see Nina doing that and wearing all gauzy black and the row and then ooooo it could be him setting up a bomb and this is what could happen if you do not change...
oh hi scene writing itself.

*points and laughs* Also, WORD. I can totally deal with a situation like the end of S2 where Jack was in really rough shape but we knew he was probably going to be okay and he had people who cared about him for support. Also because hi, hurt/comfort whore over here.
From:

And hahaha, man this season is so good for a h/c whore like you. Have you finished your table yet?
From:
no subject
And no, though hopefully the prompts I posted yesterday for people to pick from will help. In this canon it's not the hurt that's the problem, it's the comfort. I could fill half the table with China fics but there's no one to comfort Jack. :(
I also want to spread it out a bit and not just have all post-S6 fics or something, but I might give up on that.

*stands next to Karen, pointing and laughing* Well you made me fall so hard for Larry (and look how THAT turned out), so I owe you, no? However, if you're canon's bitch, you might want to check out some of the new info trickling out re: S8 before you uh. . .yeah. I'm gonna shut up. But it's not the same as it used to be, and my stomach doesn't like it at all.
I really need 1) for it to be Monday 2) to post this damn story so my brain can return to me. Fleep.
We just got power back after three hours of freezing to death. Hoosh.

Also, no power? Whu-huh?

Oh I don't fucking know. However, definitely don't give up the ship yet No way:) I need company in my misery. In fact you know? You being you, these developments might actually be pleasing. I'm trying to trust.

I'm just living in ludicrous ship land finishing this story. It's kinda hilarious actually. Too bad my PS Elements ran out, because I so need a "Got crackers?" icon.

Email me the pic you want and I'll make it.

Awww, you're so sweet! I kinda go more into "OMG he's going to die like Natasha Richardson!" than get super mad, and I don't even know this kids' mom. However *snerk.* I AM extremely close friends with S's teacher, and I gave her an earful on the subject. I know that the Mom got a call from Laurie (teacher), and believe me. You do NOT want to mess with Laurie. Seriously. She can be maximum scary when she sees fit. I'm sure she laid it down. Plus *snerk again*. All the playground teachers adore S. Mostly because he charms all adults within five seconds, even though he's actually from the dark side:) So they'll be watching.
As for what's wrong, no clue. My children are the least violent children I know.
No I don't even have a pic! I just need an icon that says "Got crackers?" in a goofy font. Or you know. With a fun background. I'll even violate my Jack/Renee rule, since I can't think of a pic of either one of them that would make sense with THAT text. I could so make it myself but back to the part where no more Elements. *sigh*

Although won't lie. I don't watch it in real time. I wait about 15 mins before jumping in so that I can fast forward on the DVR through the commercials. I'm such a child of the Instant Gratification Generation. Hence my love for TPTB for deciding to release the S7 DVD next Tuesday so I can dive into the commentaries immediately.
From:

See yeah I couldn't even do that. I'll sit through commercials (not that I have a DVR, but still) just to have it RIGHT NOW. Hee. I only pretend to be an adult. Nobody buys it.

I want that so very, very much. I want The President to ADOPT him.
The time spent between Days 7 and 8 need to be ALL ABOUT Jack being fussed over and cared for. And let him be healthy by Day 8. Not like in Day 6 when we wondered if Chinese Prisons came equipped with gyms.
The time spent between Day 2 and 3 where NOT about Jack recovering, but with the undercover work with the Salazars and the herion.
Although Jack better not be kidnapped or some shit like that.
A word sundae with hot fudge word sauce. That would suck to no end.
From:

*cackles*
And Taylor adopting him? Dude, I love it. I'm really glad they've bonded this season because she's so different from Palmer but so alike and I really think that personal connection to the President is what has been missing in S4 and S6. His relationship with Logan was a totally different beast, but it was there. The seasons where the Jack and President storylines all gel together are usually the seasons that are the strongest (see: why S1 is stronger as a whole than S3, why S5 resonated so much in the beginning and in the end).

Jack has been in exile since the end of Day 4. TPTB MAY have decided that they have had enough with that theme, so now it’s time to keep him all warm and snuggly. He can still suffer with the after effects of the biotoxin and such,so we can have lots of angst, but he won’t be alone.

Maybe that’s what the 24 folk will do? Or not?
Tony is still a cylon.
From:

Also, dude, YES. Where did we come up with that again? I can't remember if I came up with that for the recaps or if I cribbed it from something else. Either way, it's so appropriate, especially if Tony = Boomer.

SEASON finale, not SERIES finale. At least not this year.
From:

And I was talking about BSG when talking about the series finale. So surprising us with a not completely bleak ending makes sense. Since this isn't the series finale for 24, they'll probably pull something more along the lines of their usual fare. I'm just hoping it's more on the S2 end than S5.
