Have a backlog of stuff to d/l eps watch because I've been super busy with work, but at some point I'll post about TV reaction stuff. The short version is, of returning shows, I'm really happy with Modern Family, Castle, Chuck, and the Good Wife. Of the new shows, I see potential for No Ordinary Family and Undercovers. Still on the fence for Boardwalk Empire (period stuff I can usually only take in small doses). Shows to have in the background while writing are Nikita, Hawaii 5-0 and Bones at this point. I still haven't seen Fringe yet, because it's my reward at the end of the tunnel and the anticipation of watching it is helping get to the finish line for these drafts and outlines. Fun times.

Oh and Glee gets its own special category of "cracky guilty pleasure/I really shouldn't like this as much as I do/why am I watching this again?" See, the show is chock full of things that normally are dealbreakers for me (see: non-existent plots, soapbox afternoon special PSAs and the fact that the Continuity fairy died of Auto-tune overexposure). And yet, I cannot take my eyes off the cast, I am in awe of their talent and I love their takes on the music, studio mandated auto-tune aside.

The most recent episode is a prime example of that. The Britney/Brittany episode was a hot mess, even by Glee standards, and anyone who knows my taste in music knows that I have never liked Britney music, unless it's used for ironic purposes or karaoke. But damn if Heather Morris isn't mesmerizing when she dances. Holy crap, guys. I don't even know how she managed to do those moves she did, wearing the heels she was wearing.

Normally I think that if you're gonna do a video recreation/parody, it should be mostly shot-for-shot, and to a certain degree they did that, since Naya was doing all of Madonna's ridiculous rolling on the ground moves etc from the original video of Me Against the Music. But the choreography for Brittany/Britney of the Glee edition is just so much better than the original and Heather just KILLS it. I keep replaying this video from 0:49 when she throws the hat to Puck to 1:23 when they do the group slide over and over again, because the moves are so sharp and again, I don't know how she's outdancing everyone in those heels while everyone else is in more comfortable sneakers. Usually the SYTYCD alums stand out immediately. It took me about 3 rewatches of this to realize that one of the dancers right next to Brittany was Mark Kanemura - and Mark is one of my all time favorites. Girl is that fierce.

(Travis' cover of Baby One More Time remains the best Britney cover ever though.)

In other news, my electronics all seem to be failing me. The computer is making weird whurring sounds again (so I'm backing everything up again like whoa) and I need a new iPod because my old one has been declared dead and beyond repair. FUN. Between the ticket back here in January that I just bought and all those repairs/replacements, it's turning into a really expensive week. Ah well.

In conclusion: Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake recap the History of Rap, remain awesome while doing so.

Haha. I know how you feel about musicals. Me, I love 'em. This show should angry up the blood for me, but I can't find it in myself to hate on it. I can't explain it. (Also, the kids jumping on Mattresses was kinda adorable both in the context of the ep and live on tour, and I can't hate on them when they show good taste in music. Besides, none of that would have happened without Van Halen giving them the okay.)

Yes. I am not spoiled yet, surprisingly, but I'm so excited for a double-header of Fringe I have planned for Sunday when I'm done with all this stuff. Light at the end of the tunnel. Rinse, repeat. (Being an adult sucks sometimes.)

I have about 37G of music and playlists for virtually every mood/impulse/show out there. Given that I have a mac, it just makes sense for me to have an iPod since it doubles as a hard drive.

I guess I should be somewhat fair..I did catch a couple musicals, but this was solely for their classic rock connections (the version of The Who's Tommy, and Jesus Christ, Superstar, with Ian Gillian of Deep Purple, since I'm a huge DP fan, to the point of playing lead guitar in a Purple cover band several years ago)

I totally need to come up with some playlists for my fav. shows, if only for the reason that my musical taste is so vastly different than what everyone else seems to come up with. Heh.

As for Fringe it's probably best to watch it as a double-header ("science fiction double feature" to quote Liv's ringtone?) since it's been said that 3.02 is for all intents and purposes a continuation of the premiere.

Dude, you're a guy on LJ. That alone means you'll have a different take on the music. LOL. And Broadway can be fun. After all, without it, we wouldn't have the Internet is for Porn song:

The fact that Olivia is a science fiction nerd endears her to me so much. You don't know how many brownie points she won for having seen both versions of the Body Snatchers.

Hellz yeah. Old school sci-fi, FTW. My dad was a huge fan and when I was younger we'd watch the old classic movies and stuff like Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits, along with the various iterations of Star Trek.

I love the way science fiction builds on itself and I think what impressed me the most is that Olivia seems to appreciate both new and old science-fiction. That's kind of hard to come by sometimes- someone who appreciates the classics but is not so protective of them to reject new/remakes outright and give them a chance.
