Have a backlog of stuff to d/l eps watch because I've been super busy with work, but at some point I'll post about TV reaction stuff. The short version is, of returning shows, I'm really happy with Modern Family, Castle, Chuck, and the Good Wife. Of the new shows, I see potential for No Ordinary Family and Undercovers. Still on the fence for Boardwalk Empire (period stuff I can usually only take in small doses). Shows to have in the background while writing are Nikita, Hawaii 5-0 and Bones at this point. I still haven't seen Fringe yet, because it's my reward at the end of the tunnel and the anticipation of watching it is helping get to the finish line for these drafts and outlines. Fun times.
Oh and Glee gets its own special category of "cracky guilty pleasure/I really shouldn't like this as much as I do/why am I watching this again?" See, the show is chock full of things that normally are dealbreakers for me (see: non-existent plots, soapbox afternoon special PSAs and the fact that the Continuity fairy died of Auto-tune overexposure). And yet, I cannot take my eyes off the cast, I am in awe of their talent and I love their takes on the music, studio mandated auto-tune aside.
The most recent episode is a prime example of that. The Britney/Brittany episode was a hot mess, even by Glee standards, and anyone who knows my taste in music knows that I have never liked Britney music, unless it's used for ironic purposes or karaoke. But damn if Heather Morris isn't mesmerizing when she dances. Holy crap, guys. I don't even know how she managed to do those moves she did, wearing the heels she was wearing.
Normally I think that if you're gonna do a video recreation/parody, it should be mostly shot-for-shot, and to a certain degree they did that, since Naya was doing all of Madonna's ridiculous rolling on the ground moves etc from the original video of Me Against the Music. But the choreography for Brittany/Britney of the Glee edition is just so much better than the original and Heather just KILLS it. I keep replaying this video from 0:49 when she throws the hat to Puck to 1:23 when they do the group slide over and over again, because the moves are so sharp and again, I don't know how she's outdancing everyone in those heels while everyone else is in more comfortable sneakers. Usually the SYTYCD alums stand out immediately. It took me about 3 rewatches of this to realize that one of the dancers right next to Brittany was Mark Kanemura - and Mark is one of my all time favorites. Girl is that fierce.
(Travis' cover of Baby One More Time remains the best Britney cover ever though.)
In other news, my electronics all seem to be failing me. The computer is making weird whurring sounds again (so I'm backing everything up again like whoa) and I need a new iPod because my old one has been declared dead and beyond repair. FUN. Between the ticket back here in January that I just bought and all those repairs/replacements, it's turning into a really expensive week. Ah well.
In conclusion: Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake recap the History of Rap, remain awesome while doing so.

Fringe: So you're gonna catch the premier AND tonight's ep, eh?
Ipod - have an off-brand MP3 player I bought off Ebay for like 35 bucks and it works great. Apple can suck it.

Yes. I am not spoiled yet, surprisingly, but I'm so excited for a double-header of Fringe I have planned for Sunday when I'm done with all this stuff. Light at the end of the tunnel. Rinse, repeat. (Being an adult sucks sometimes.)
I have about 37G of music and playlists for virtually every mood/impulse/show out there. Given that I have a mac, it just makes sense for me to have an iPod since it doubles as a hard drive.

I totally need to come up with some playlists for my fav. shows, if only for the reason that my musical taste is so vastly different than what everyone else seems to come up with. Heh.
As for Fringe it's probably best to watch it as a double-header ("science fiction double feature" to quote Liv's ringtone?) since it's been said that 3.02 is for all intents and purposes a continuation of the premiere.

The fact that Olivia is a science fiction nerd endears her to me so much. You don't know how many brownie points she won for having seen both versions of the Body Snatchers.

However! The Jimmy Fallon/Justin Timberlake is going in my favorites. You win. I'm still laughing. That's amazing.
I'm crossing my fingers for your computer. As for iPods, I put M's through the wash last week because he stuck it in some really obscure pocket. It kinda . . . worked for a while and then stopped. Meh.
This icon has no relevance to anything in this post, but I'm using it on you because it made me laugh so hard and reminded me of the Renee as Mary Sue conversation:)

Brittany just wins at life. She makes everything better on Glee. I'm so glad they put Britney and Brittany together cuz that was highly amusing.
I enjoy finding funny videos to make you laugh. Oh btw, did I ever link you up to the Miracles mashup? Just in case I haven't yet, check it out:
I have a classic which is hard drive based, so when it started making funny noises, I knew something was up. I just travel with it too much. I take that thing everywhere with me. If I had tossed it in the wash, it'd be even more dead.

Oh, and M got a new iPod. Refurbished nano, and he loves it, so that's cool!

Those are all excellent choices btw.

Haven't watched Glee yet this season, but it is on my DVR. I thought I'd recorded the premiere of Fringe as well, but it's not there. Argh. I think it's available to stream from the local station, or it is on iTunes if worst comes to worst.
I watched Big Bang Theory for the first time last night, although it was an old episode. It's been so long since I've watched something with a laugh track it really threw me. Who are all these people, and why are they laughing? Yuck. I don't know if I can get past that.
Love Modern Family, even if it does remind me of the Littlest Cancer Patient with it's rather obvious tugging of the heart strings, my heart strings fall for it every time. I rather enjoyed the premiere of Nikita, but I forgot to watch it last week. I thought Undercovers seemed kinda lame, but I only watched the last five minutes. The Bones reboot... well. How many times can they reboot only to have things exactly the way they were? And now a baby? And why doesn't this bother me on Chuck? I do adore the chemistry between Angela and Hodges. They have the eye sex DOWN, baby.
Castle is too self-consciously witty for me. There, I said it. I've only seen two eps, but it would not be my first choice if there was something else on.

Glee is just so cracky. I can only enjoy it if I don't think too hard about it and just kick back and enjoy the singing and dancing. If I try to apply logic, it just gets frustrating, so I leave it to the fandom to fix it for me. I love the corner of the fandom I've found. They are supremely awesome.
I have a pretty high tolerance for laugh tracks, so it doesn't bother me. I just imagine that I'm in the studio audience and I'm watching the show live, like it's a skit or a play.
Nikita is a show that I want to like, but it's taking a while for things to gel. All the elements are there, but it's like it can't take that next step for it to be greater than the sum of its parts. On the flip side, I think that Undercovers works a lot better, but only because of the comedy elements. I feel like Nikita and Undercovers are trying to accomplish two totally different things, and so comparing them is a little foolish. Nikita is going for more of a serious Alias vibe whereas Undercovers is going more for a Chuck-like tone. Both pale in comparison to their target goals, but it's only been a couple weeks, so I cut them slack and try to give them time to find their footing.
Bones and Castle are a better comparison. I like Bones, but the interplay between Bones and Booth feels too much like a retread, as you say. I only hope Castle doesn't fall into this trap, but the difference between the two is how they deal with the ship. The title character and the show writers of Bones tried to willfully ignore the elephant in the room, whereas Castle feeds the elephant and points out that it's pink and tries to crack a joke about it. In that sense, the self-conscious wit works in their favor. Different stroke for different folks, but I still vote for Castle over Hawaii 5-0 anyday.
As for the babies, I think it's more a matter of holy crap, is Angela really ready to be that settled as to be a mother, whereas Ellie has been training for this since their mom left. I don't doubt that Angela and Hodgins aren't going to love the heck out their kid, but in terms of knowing how to be a family, Ellie and Awesome just have more practice, having siblings and mostly positive relationships with their respective families.
